Call to Action: Protests, Phone Calls, and DEI

One thing we can do right now: Protest! There are protests being organized all over the country to speak out against the policies of the current administration.

I protested on April 19th, and it was exactly the medicine I needed. Cars literally stopped driving on the four-lane highway in order to read our signs. Whether or not we changed minds, we were seen and heard – and I felt less alone for 90 minutes (while getting a sunburn).

And if protesting isn’t your jam or conflicts with your schedule, remember your Five Calls. It takes very little time, and sincerely makes a difference.

Recent action we’re celebrating: WRITEABILITY team member and owner/founder of Swamp Fox Bookstore, Terri LeBlanc, was featured in a recent news spotlight speaking up for transgender rights (and books!).

A resource worth sharing: Has anyone else out there been hearing this egregious claim that “DEI is illegal”? If anyone is telling you this, or if you are in a position of leading others in the workplace during these unprecedented times, here’s 6-minutes of advice from Desiree Adaway about how to respond and reframe DEI discussions and practices.
