Interview with Author Patricia Ann McNair

Today I’m celebrating short story and creative nonfiction author Patricia Ann McNair, who is not only an inspiration and friend, but also one of the most sincere, effective, deep-thinking teachers of creative writing that I have ever met. Students in her Columbia College writing classes are lucky, indeed! But now that her second book has hit the stands, you don’t have to be her student to learn from (and be entertained by) her wisdom. Enjoy this video interview, in which we discuss the difference between a “riff” and a “personal essay,” life-changing moments, and recommended reading.

Thank you for this interview with Patricia McNair – many insights!

(I’m reading Code of the West, and recently saw Megan Sielstra read.)
