New Fiction Published by KYSO
It’s been 18 months since I’ve been able to share links to new short stories. While the book tour afforded many opportunities to link reviews, interviews, or radio and television appearances, there’s nothing to boost a writer’s day like having a short story published. KYSO Flash is a new online publication that has kicked things off with a killer line-up of flash authors, and they’re a paying market to boot (the way it should be!). Having taught flash to numerous classes over the years, I always get asked about the best places to submit. Because of my experience working with KYSO’s editor Clare MacQueen, KYSO is now at the top of my list when it comes to recommending. She’s detail-oriented, enthusiastic, and has a clear vision for her magazine. She also clearly loves a good story, and at the end of that day, that matters more than anything. Please join me in celebrating KYSO’s October issue by perusing its pages and considering its submission guidelines. For quick links to my new flash fiction and micros, use the following links:
- “A Tiny Disturbance” details a teen who can’t sleep at night
- “Born in the Wrong Era” captures a moment between mother and child
- “Stop Looking at Me Like That” addresses teen suicide with emotional depth
- “The Last Thing They Might Have Seen” considers the roadside crosses a teacher passes on his way to work
- “Time Wasted” paints the picture of a woman’s heart post-miscarriage
- “We Owned it All” explores the underground world of Paris’ catacombs
Thanks for reading!
